Forge of Svan breastplate review
Forge of Svan is a Ukrainian armoury which supplies mostly combat armour for Buhurt / Harness, and perhaps use in SCA and the like. I had eyed them for a while as they offer a good price.
I like my reviews to be fairly short and to the point, so this was my experience with them:
- I bought an in-stock breastplate. They update their in-stock pieces here. This means I had no waiting / production time.
- Email communication was great. I simply emailed, paid, and within a week it was dispatched.
- Shipping from Ukraine to Netherlands was good, took around 2-3 weeks (most of the time sitting at customs).
Specs of the breastplate:
- 1mm tempered steel. This has been very durable. Perfect for HEMA & harnischfechten. This is plenty strong for anything non-buhurt.
- Size was medium. There are the occassional comments of Forge of Svan's sizing being quite large. Normally, I would have ordered a large based on my measurements, but am glad I did not.
My tip would be to measure your body tightly, no need for 'room to move'. They must take this into account, which could explain some peoples discrepancies.
Overall, a great experience. I would definitely like to order from them again soon.
