Steel & Sorcery

Active & reactive initiative prototype

Active players go before all enemies. They can move, attack or take an action.

Reactive players can act in reaction to the GM stating enemy intent. “The drow raise and shoot their crossbows at you”. “I raise my shield to try block them, while I charge forward”.

“The orc lunges forward to push you off the bridge”. “A step to the side and attack him”.

The limit with being reactive is you only have “one sentence” to achieve your turn. You may very well move, attack, and take an action but that may be rare in the context of what you are reacting to.

If you have not been active or reactive, you can finish your turn after all enemies have gone.
